Jelly Roll Opens Up On Weight Loss Setback As WrestleMania 42 Moment Grabs Headlines

Share

Jelly Roll had a massive 24 hours on Saturday (April 18th).

One minute he was levelling with fans about slipping in his weight loss journey, the next he was crashing through a WWE announcer’s table in front of a packed WrestleMania 42 crowd, two very different snapshots of the same story.

In a YouTube vlog posted April 18th, Jelly Roll got real about where things have drifted.

‘I was like, “You know what, man? I’ve been working hard for the past three years losing this weight,”’ he said. ‘I said, “I’m gonna enjoy the holidays.”’

That decision stacked up quickly (over the holidays).

‘I ate a big Thanksgiving meal, and I ate a big birthday meal, and I ate a big Christmas meal, and I kinda got off the rails,’ he admitted. ‘I have, to some degree, lost my way.’

He revealed he’s gained about 12 pounds (5.4kgs) back after previously losing close to 300 (136 kgs), hours later, he was part of one of WrestleMania’s most chaotic moments (per Billboard).

WrestleMania 42: no half measures

During the main event between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, Jelly Roll stepped in early, going straight for Pat McAfee, with Rhodes lining things up, Jelly Roll launched from the announcer’s table and dropped an elbow straight through McAfee, obliterating the desk on impact.

It was messy, loud, and very far from a cameo you forget five minutes later, McAfee was stretchered out of Allegiant Stadium, still flipping the crowd off as he went (per TMZ).

Setbacks, injuries, and momentum

The weight gain didn’t happen out of nowhere, Jelly Roll also pointed to a collarbone injury from an ATV accident late last year, which stalled his training and knocked him out of routine.

Even with the WrestleMania appearance showing flashes of that physical push, the reality off camera has been less consistent.

Still moving forward

Despite the setback, he’s not resetting from zero, he’s already back running regular 5Ks, building toward his goal of completing a marathon in New York City this November.

Earlier this year, he hit a major milestone, losing nearly 300 pounds and landing on the cover of Men’s Health, that context matters, one rough stretch doesn’t erase years of work.

If anything, the contrast between WrestleMania fun and a quiet, honest vlog says more about where he’s at than either moment alone.
