Loathe new album ‘A Stranger To You’ is finally real, with the Liverpool shapeshifters locking in a July 17th release via SharpTone Records and unveiling a new single, ‘Revenant’, featuring Jami Morgan and Eric ‘Shade’ Balderose of Code Orange.
It’s been six years since ‘I Let It In And It Took Everything’ rewired heavy music’s DNA, and instead of coasting on that legacy, Loathe have taken a sharper turn into the unknown.
Loathe – Revenant (Official Music Video)
A Six Year Reset
That 2020 record didn’t just elevate Loathe, it shifted expectations around what heavy music could sound like, since then they’ve bounced between arena support slots and their own headline runs, quietly becoming one of the most influential bands in the space without ever sitting still.
‘A Stranger To You’ sounds like a deliberate rejection of repetition, across 14 tracks the band stretch their identity into something more abstract, layering synth textures, off kilter rhythms and psychedelic edges into their already fluid sound, it’s less about chasing another breakthrough and more about dismantling what they built last time.
There’s a risk in that approach, especially after a record that hit as hard as its predecessor, but Loathe have never really operated on safe ground.
‘Revenant’ Hits Hard And Warped
New single ‘Revenant’ gives a clearer look at where they’re headed, it opens in a haze before dropping into something heavier and more rhythm-driven, constantly shifting underneath itself.
Kadeem France moves between restrained melody and full-throttle intensity, while the addition of Morgan and Balderose injects a chaotic edge that feels closer to the industrial grind of Code Orange than anything Loathe have done before.
It’s already been tearing through live sets overseas, and it lands less like a teaser and more like a warning shot.
