Lizzy Rain Makes WWE NXT Debut

Share

There’s something quietly poetic about heavy metal bloodlines colliding with pro wrestling theatrics.

On this week’s WWE NXT, that crossover hit the screen in full force as Lizzy Rain, niece of late Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, stepped into the spotlight for her televised debut.

Rain arrived on the April 28 (2026) episode of NXT on The CW (Netflix AU), walking into the kind of reaction most rookies would kill for, there was no easing in either. In her first televised WWE match, she stood tall over Nikkita Lyons, signalling that the company clearly sees something more than just legacy hype.

If you’ve been watching the UK circuit, this wasn’t exactly out of nowhere, before signing with WWE, Rain carved out a reputation under the name Rayne Leverkusen, grinding through promotions like PROGRESS Wrestling, where she held the World Women’s Championship, she’s been in the trenches since 2021, and it shows (per Lambgoat).

From PROGRESS champion to WWE prospect

WWE had already clocked her potential last year, at the SummerSlam 2025 tryouts, Rain was labelled the event’s MVP, which pretty much fast tracked her trajectory, by early 2026, she’d inked a deal with the company, quietly building momentum behind the scenes.

Before this week’s TV debut, she’d already picked up a win in an NXT dark match against Layla Diggs on April 14th, sharpening the blade before stepping under the lights.

The Iron Maiden connection

Of course, there’s the lineage, Rain has never shied away from it, opening up in 2023 about her connection to one of metal’s most influential drummers:

“My uncle is Clive Burr, who was the original drummer for Iron Maiden and was on their first three albums, their most famous album, The Number of the Beast. He was the drummer on it, so yeah, a big connection to Iron Maiden. He’s unfortunately dead now. He died at quite a young age of an illness called MS. So I didn’t really get to have these amazing conversations with him about the band and stuff because he was quite ill when I knew him. But yeah, that’s a pretty cool connection. It must run in my family, this whole rock music thing.”

In a detail that hits a little harder for fans, Rain also revealed her entrance jacket once belonged to Burr, bringing a piece of Maiden history into the WWE arena.

What comes next?

It’s early days, but Rain’s debut wasn’t subtle, WWE doesn’t hand out moments like that without a plan, whether she leans into the Maiden legacy or builds something entirely her own, one thing’s clear, she’s not here to sit in the background.
