Thy Art Is Murder have been forced to drop off the 2026 Chaos & Carnage Tour, pulling out just before kickoff after drummer Jesse Beahler was rushed into emergency surgery.
The Aussie deathcore mainstays confirmed the news in a statement, revealing Beahler was struck with acute appendicitis while en route to the US, the situation unfolded fast, what should’ve been a routine travel day turned into a hospital run.
“On the way to the airport, to fly to the states for rehearsals, Jesse began experiencing severe abdominal pain. He was taken to urgent care and referred immediately to the ER, where he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and underwent emergency surgery.”
Timing wise, it could’ve been worse (per Lamb Goat).
“In all of this, the lucky part is it hit at the beginning of our 20 hour journey and not somewhere over the Pacific.”
Beahler has since come through surgery successfully, but the recovery window has forced the band’s hand.
“Jesse came through his surgery well and is recovering, but has been medically advised to not fly or perform for six weeks.”
Tour reshuffle moves forward without them
With Thy Art Is Murder out, the Chaos & Carnage Tour isn’t slowing down, Bodysnatcher will now step into the co-headlining slot alongside Carnifex, keeping the run intact across the US.
The lineup still stacks heavy, with 200 Stab Wounds, Ingested, Gates To Hell and Bodybox all locked in, Thy Art made it clear they’re gutted to miss it, but not stepping back entirely from the scene.
“We know how much this tour meant to a lot of you and we don’t take that lightly.”
“Get to these shows, support the bands and support the tour.”
What’s next for Thy Art
For now, the focus shifts inward, Beahler’s recovery is priority one, with the band already eyeing studio time across June and July.
“Jesse’s focus now is making a full recovery so he’s ready to hit the studio with us through June and July.”
It’s a brutal blow for an Australian band that’s spent years grinding through international circuits, pulling out of a tour like this isn’t a light decision, but health calls the shots and always has, if there’s any upside here, it’s that the setback happened before things properly kicked off, not mid-run in a foreign city.
