A New Clip From The Mandalorian And Grogu Actually Has Some Plot Details

Share

Mando and the muppet are off tracking down a rogue Imperial officer in the first Star Wars feature film since Rise of Skywalker.

We’re about a week out from the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and the powers that be have finally, fiiiiinaly, through presumably grit teeth, released a little plot info regarding the latest and, given the current state of the franchise, crucial film in the ongoing Star Wars saga. Let’s have a look:

What’s the plot?

The official synopsis is still pretty detail-free:

The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu also stars Sigourney Weaver and is produced by Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with music composed by Ludwig Göransson.

But as the above clip tells us, Sigourney Weaver‘s Colonel Ward wants Mando and his youthful ward to track down a renegade former Imperial officer named Commander Coin, and to get the information he needs, he first has to sweeten up the Hutts by rescuing Rotto, Jabba the Hutt’s heir. So, a pretty standard story arc for The Mandalorian streaming series.

Oddly, British actor Jonny Coyne is apparently playing another Imperial hold out, which is either an amazing coincidence, a spot of confusion, or some deeply lazy writing. Who can say?

Who’s in it?

  • Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, AKA The Mandalorian: veteran bounty hunter and single father.
  • Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, leader of the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers and former Rebel Alliance pilot.
  • Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt’s son and apparently ripped AF.
  • Jonny Coyne as Warlord Janu, the leader of a contingent of Imperial hold outs.
  • Steve Blum as Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios: A Lasat captain in the New Republic who originally cropped up in the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels.

Plus, Mando co-writer Dave Filoni is back as New Republic X-wing pilot Trapper Wolf from The Mandalorian, and Martin Scorsese makes a cameo appearance as the voice of a shopkeeper.

When’s it out?

Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Grogu is in cinemas from May 21, 2026.

What’s the vibe?

Well, at least have a vague idea regarding what’s going on, now. Full review next week!
