2014’s Earthwalker was a game-changing release for the Australian metalcore scene, and, almost unbelievably in how the whole scenario unfolded, took In Hearts Wake from hundred-cap clubs to thousand-strong theatres. Skydancer wasn’t even part of the equation – well, to us, anyway – at the time, but when the 2015 opus dropped, the Byron envirocore shredders only saw success boom a hundredfold.
Now, the quartet are wrapping up the Duality cycle with three intimate East Coast shows, hitting Coffs Harbour, the Sunshine Coast and Byron Bay in mid-December.
“The Duality cycle has been a dream come true for us,” says frontman Jake Taylor. “We could have never predicted that 22 tracks, written and recorded in the same session, would bring us to where we are today… We can’t wait to conclude what has been such a monumental album cycle for the band. [We’re] looking forward to the celebration with our friends and family over these three intimate shows.”
Joining the blokes will be Brisbane pop-punks Columbus and metalcore maniacs The Brave. Both bands have released stunning debut albums recently, Columbus’ noughties-channeling Spring Forever still garnering daily spins at Blunt HQ, while The Brave’s Epoch has found a home in our editor’s car for their life-risking highway mosh sessions.
In Hearts Wake are also hitting some capital city arenas this month, opening for metal titans Slipknot and Lamb Of God on their bullshit mental mini-tour in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
