A 99 Year Old Grandma Just Became The Oldest Crowd Surfer Ever

A 99 year old grandmother has officially entered rock festival history after setting a Guinness World Record for crowd surfing at Kid Rock’s Rock The Country festival in Texas.

Pauline Kana, better known online as Gangster Granny, pulled off the moment during Brantley Gilbert’s set at the festival’s Austin stop earlier this month, becoming the oldest person ever to crowd surf at a concert (per Loudwire).

And honestly? She looked like she was having more fun than half the crowd.

Before the stunt kicked off, Gilbert brought Kana’s story to the audience and announced what was about to happen from the stage.

“Granny here is going to become the oldest woman to crowd surf,” he told the packed crowd.

“Granny! Granny! Granny!”chants

What followed was peak festival chaos in the best possible way, sitting securely strapped onto a flat platform, Kana was lifted above thousands of fans as the audience erupted into chants of “Granny! Granny! Granny!”

According to social media footage from the event, more than 20,000 people were in attendance when the record was set, the moment has now officially been recognised by Guinness World Records, which confirmed Kana successfully crowd surfed “over multiple rows of people at the tender age of 99.”

Kana’s grandson, viral content creator Ross Smith, shared the footage online where it instantly exploded across TikTok and Instagram, Smith has built a massive following posting videos alongside his grandmother, who has become a cult internet personality thanks to her humour and zero filter energy.

From flipping off the camera to jokingly proposing to John Cena, Gangster Granny has basically built an online brand around proving age means absolutely nothing when it comes to causing mayhem online.

After completing the record breaking surf, Kana held up her Guinness plaque and celebrated the only way possible. “I did it! I’m the greatest of all time!” she shouted.
