Hot Milk returned to Sydney last night for a headline performance at Metro Theatre that felt less like a standard club show and more like a statement from the moment they stepped onstage.
Currently wrapping up their Australian headline run with Bad/Love, Manchester’s Hot Milk wasted absolutely no time pulling the crowd into the night, immediately driving the room into motion with “Swallow This” before launching into “I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I’M DEAD.”

The energy barely dipped across the entire set, Han Mee and Jim Shaw constantly moved across the stage, feeding directly off the crowd as circle pits opened almost immediately and rarely slowed down.
Tracks like “90 Seconds to Midnight,” “Bad Influence” and “Candy Coated Lie$” only pushed things further, while heavier moments including “HORROR SHOW,” “BLOODSTREAM” and “OVER YOUR DEAD BODY” turned the Metro floor into a wall of bodies.
Even with the relentless pace, Hot Milk’s ability to shift between punk urgency, massive hooks and sharp alt-rock melodrama remained one of the night’s biggest strengths. “BREATHING UNDERWATER” and “Glass Spiders” balanced emotional weight with the same intensity driving the rest of the performance, while “PARTY ON MY DEATHBED” sent the crowd into another frenzy late in the set.
Photographer James Miller captured it all from inside the room as Hot Milk tore through a set packed with movement, sweat and constant crowd interaction.
