Butcher Babies have released their latest single, “Blame It On The Wind”, alongside an official music video, offering fans another glimpse into the band’s forthcoming album.
Produced by acclaimed rock producer Howard Benson, the track marks the fourth release from the Los Angeles metal outfit’s upcoming full length record, which is set to arrive via Judge & Jury Records.
Unlike some of the band’s heavier and more aggressive material, “Blame It On The Wind” explores deeply personal territory, drawing on themes of love, regret, temptation and self reflection.

According to the band’s latest press materials, the upcoming album serves as a deeply personal project for vocalist Heidi Shepherd, reflecting on the relationships, experiences and lessons that have shaped her life over the last quarter century.
The record is described as both a reflection on the past and a celebration of personal growth, with Shepherd using the songs to revisit defining moments while embracing the person she has become today.
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Blame It On The Wind”, Shepherd revealed the song was born from a connection that lingered long after it should have faded (per Next Mosh).
“There are certain nights, certain moments, and certain connections you never fully shake.”
A denial of accountability
The vocalist explained that the track traces its roots back to a relationship that began in 2012 as a one night encounter but evolved into something far more complicated over the years.
“In 2012, what started as a one-night stand morphed into a connection that would haunt me for years.”
Shepherd vividly recalled details from that first meeting, describing how specific memories remained impossible to forget despite the passage of time.
“This song is about a lust you can’t leave, a denial of accountability, and a laundry list of excuses for following the white rabbit.”
The singer added that people often blame circumstances or settings for their choices because it’s easier than admitting someone has genuinely left a lasting impact on their lives.
The release continues to build anticipation for Butcher Babies‘ next chapter, with the band gradually revealing more of the album’s emotional and autobiographical themes through each new single.
With “Blame It On The Wind”, Shepherd delivers one of her most vulnerable lyrical performances to date, turning a deeply personal experience into a song likely to resonate with anyone who has struggled to let go of a connection that refused to disappear.
The band’s upcoming album is expected to arrive later this year via Judge & Jury Records.
