Ocean Sleeper Announce Sophomore Album Peace When I’m Dead And Unleash Powerful New Title Track

Share

Victorian metalcore outfit Ocean Sleeper have officially lifted the curtain on their long awaited second album, Peace When I’m Dead, set for global release on August 21st via BMG Australia and Rise Records.

Alongside the announcement, Ocean Sleeper have released the album’s title track and accompanying music video, delivering another emotionally charged statement following the release of comeback single Break The Cycle earlier this year.

The new song dives deep into themes of grief, guilt, depression and personal struggle, continuing Ocean Sleeper’s reputation for confronting difficult emotions through cathartic and hard hitting music. Visually, the band once again teamed up with Freeman Films, known for work with Parkway Drive and Tones And I, to create a powerful companion piece that amplifies the track’s emotional weight.

“This band has never been afraid to dive into the darker parts of our lives, and this album is no exception,” says lead vocalist Karl Spiessl. “At its core, the record explores the ongoing battle we have with ourselves – that constant inner struggle that can feel endless. It’s about coming to terms with the idea that this conflict may always be part of the human experience, and learning to accept that reality.”

Recorded across Melbourne, Los Angeles and Portland, Peace When I’m Dead showcases Ocean Sleeper’s growing international reach. The album features mixing and mastering from Jeff Dunne, whose credits include Make Them Suffer, Disturbed and Knocked Loose, while producers Jon Lundin and Curt Martin also contributed to the project.

According to Spiessl, the title track perfectly captures the album’s central message:

“Nothing good comes easy and is worth every fall in pushing forward,” he says. “For us, like many others, opportunities haven’t come easily to this band but we have worked tirelessly to achieve our wins and will continue to push forward until peace comes to us all.”

The announcement arrives as Break The Cycle continues to build momentum worldwide, surpassing 200,000 Spotify streams and earning rotation on SiriusXM’s Octane and Liquid Metal stations in the United States.
