The Smashing Pumpkins have been added to the lineup for the upcoming America250 celebration concert set to take place in Los Angeles on July 4th, marking another major live event tied to the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations.
The concert will be held at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and will feature country star Chris Stapleton as the headline act, with Queen Latifah stepping in as host for the evening, organisers have also flagged that additional performers and special guests are expected to be announced closer to the event.
Importantly, this event is separate from the Freedom 250 celebrations that have attracted criticism and artist withdrawals in recent weeks due to their association with President Donald Trump and the White House (Per Loudwire).

More than just music
Alongside the live music lineup, attendees can expect a large scale fireworks display to close out the night, the event also carries a charitable component. A portion of proceeds will support Giving 4th, an initiative encouraging charitable giving, while proceeds remaining after fees will be directed to Feeding America.
Organisers have additionally committed 5,000 complimentary tickets to first responders, veterans and active duty service members through VetTix.
America250 describes itself as a bipartisan national initiative focused on commemorating the country’s semiquincentennial through public programs and events designed to engage communities across the United States.
Freedom 250, a separate initiative linked to Trump’s administration, has faced turbulence after several previously announced performers distanced themselves from the event. Artists including Morris Day and the Time, The Commodores, Bret Michaels and Martina McBride reportedly withdrew from scheduled appearances.
For The Smashing Pumpkins, the announcement arrives as the band prepares for its 30th anniversary run celebrating Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, with shows promising a mix of album highlights and career spanning material.
