Some bands celebrate anniversaries with oversized box sets and endless reissues, Bayside are taking a more personal route.
Long running Queens outfit Bayside have released Anywhere But Here, a five track collection that reaches across different eras of the band’s catalogue while finally giving one long requested song its overdue streaming debut.
Leading the release is Monster, a B-side originally tied to 2011’s Killing Time that until now had only been available to fans who tracked down the vinyl pressing, now after years of existing as something of a hidden chapter in Bayside’s catalogue, the track is officially available digitally.
Bayside ‘Monster’ (Killing Time B-Side)
Rather than presenting Anywhere But Here as a traditional greatest hits package, the release feels closer to a curated snapshot of what has kept the band relevant for more than two decades: emotionally direct songwriting, punk urgency and hooks that somehow still hit years later.
Alongside Monster, the collection pulls together songs that have become staples of the Bayside story, including fan favourites Devotion And Desire, The Walking Wounded, Montauk and It’s Not A Bad Little War.
There’s also an extra layer of connection behind the release itself, the artwork was illustrated by drummer Chris Guglielmo, giving the project an intentionally hands on feeling that reflects the band’s long standing DIY identity.
It arrives at a moment where early 2000s alternative and punk nostalgia feels stronger than ever, fresh off a recent tour alongside fellow scene staples Taking Back Sunday, Bayside continue proving that longevity in alternative music isn’t about chasing trends, it’s about building songs people keep returning to.
Judging by the continued demand for old favourites and previously unreleased material, fans are still answering the call.
