Post Malone has added another massive performance to his already packed 2026 schedule, with the global superstar confirmed to headline the closing ceremony for the FIFA World Cup Final this weekend.

The Post Malone performance will take place at New York New Jersey Stadium this Sunday, July 19th, beginning 90 minutes before kick-off as part of FIFA’s biggest ever World Cup entertainment program.

For Australian fans, the announcement comes just months before Post Malone returns for his already announced BIG ASS World Tour, which will see him play the biggest headline shows of his career in Australia this October.

Produced in partnership with Balich Wonder Studio, the World Cup closing ceremony is designed to celebrate the tournament’s conclusion before the world’s attention turns to football’s biggest match.

Announcing the performance, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said (per Digital Music News):

“At a time when sport, culture, and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists.”

He added:

“We are thrilled to have so many stars taking to the pitch, from both the football and entertainment worlds. The closing ceremony will set the tone for a historic FIFA World Cup final, uniting the passion of 48 teams, 16 host cities, and millions of fans on one unforgettable stage.”

A big time line up

Post Malone joins an extraordinary entertainment line-up surrounding the World Cup Final. Jennifer Hudson will perform the United States national anthem before kick off, while the tournament’s first ever halftime show will feature Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS, Burna Boy and conductor Gustavo Dudamel. Robbie Williams, FIFA’s Music Ambassador, will also perform alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini.

The halftime show has been curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise US$100 million to improve access to education and sport for children around the world.

While Post Malone prepares to perform on one of the biggest sporting stages on the planet, Australian fans won’t have to wait much longer to see him in person.

The singer returns this October for his BIG ASS World Tour, taking in stadium dates in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, alongside appearances at Strummingbird Festival in Ballarat, Newcastle and the Sunshine Coast.
