More than three decades after helping define New York hardcore, Madball are proving they’ve lost none of their fire.
The legendary Madball have officially released their tenth studio album, Not Your Kingdom, via Nuclear Blast, delivering another uncompromising collection of riffs, gang vocals and streetwise attitude.
Arriving as a milestone release for the band, Not Your Kingdom balances everything longtime fans have come to expect from Madball while embracing a modern production style that gives the songs extra weight without sacrificing the raw energy that made them hardcore icons.
Leading the album is the blistering new single ‘Don’t MisStep’, a furious 94 second burst of aggression that wastes no time getting to the point. Packed with crushing breakdowns and relentless intensity, it’s the kind of track destined to become an instant live favourite.
The accompanying music video (below) was co-directed by frontman Freddy Cricien and Dave Causa, with additional footage supplied by Drew Stone and Leon Rockel.

Themes of Resilience, loyalty and personal growth
Across its 14 tracks, Not Your Kingdom explores themes of resilience, loyalty and personal growth while remaining firmly rooted in the grit and honesty that has defined Madball since the late ’80s. Songs including ‘Family First’, ‘Life’s a Mural’ and ‘Chase a Dream’ reflect a band that continues to evolve lyrically without abandoning the street level authenticity that has earned them generations of devoted fans.
The album was recorded at The Boneyard Studios in Nashville, with production handled by Andrew Baylis, Aiden Thompson and Grady Saxman, before being mixed and mastered by Lee Rouse, the striking artwork also carries a historical touch, featuring photography by the late Cornell Capa, courtesy of Magnum Photos and the Cornell Capa Estate.

To celebrate the release, Madball have also announced their Only The Hard Tour 2026, taking the new material across Europe alongside Desolated, Combust and Expectations.
With Not Your Kingdom, Madball continue to demonstrate why they remain one of hardcore’s most enduring and respected names. While trends have come and gone, the New York veterans have stayed true to their roots, delivering another record that feels every bit as urgent and uncompromising as the music that first put them on the map.
For hardcore fans, it’s another reminder that Madball are still setting the standard rather than chasing it.
