Sid Wilson has seemingly addressed his departure from Slipknot in the most understated way possible, updating his Instagram bio to mark the end of his time with the band.
The longtime Slipknot turntablist has changed the bio to read: “@slipknot 1997-2026.”
While Wilson has not issued a lengthy public statement about the split, the update represents his clearest acknowledgement yet that his run with Slipknot is over.
The move comes just days after Slipknot appeared to confirm that Wilson was no longer associated with the band.
Slipknot’s brief acknowledgement
On August 14th, the group posted a statement addressing the situation, saying:
“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,”
The post was subsequently deleted, adding another layer of uncertainty to an already messy few weeks.
Speculation surrounding Wilson’s future first emerged on July 31st, when TMZ reported that he had allegedly been permanently removed from Slipknot.
A later report from the outlet claimed that Wilson’s treatment of his bandmates had played a role in the decision.
Those allegations have not been publicly confirmed by Slipknot or Wilson, the situation became even more confusing when guitarist Jim Root urged fans not to immediately accept everything being reported, while Wilson continued appearing publicly under the Slipknot name.
Just two days before the band’s deleted announcement, Wilson appeared at the inaugural World Scratch Invitational in Atlantic City and introduced himself as “No. 0, from the world famous Slipknot.”
Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 and became one of the defining figures in the band’s live sound and visual identity. Performing as DJ Starscream and #0, he contributed to every Slipknot studio album from the band’s 1999 self-titled debut through 2022’s The End, So Far.
He was also part of Look Outside Your Window, the experimental project featuring Wilson, Corey Taylor, Jim Root and Shawn “Clown” Crahan.
With his Instagram now listing his Slipknot years as 1997-2026, Wilson appears to have quietly closed the chapter himself.
