NOFX might be finished as a touring band, but apparently they still had one more middle finger left in the chamber.
Punk veterans NOFX have released 40 Years of F***in’ Up: Soundtrack + Score digitally, the companion release to their career-spanning documentary 40 Years of F***in’’ Up. A physical double-LP edition will follow on October 2nd.
The release also includes the new track ‘We Did It Our Way’, with footage taken from NOFX’s final run of shows in San Pedro, California in 2024.
The performance was originally streamed live during the farewell shows and now lands as one of the last additions to an already overloaded catalogue.

The documentary
The documentary itself premiered at SXSW earlier this year before being accepted into the San Francisco International Film Festival and Cannes Film Market.
Across the soundtrack and score, NOFX dig through four decades of material without trying to polish the rough edges. There are live cuts, demos, unreleased recordings and newly composed material, alongside Fat Mike’s 11 track original score.
Among the rarities are ‘Secret Society (demo)’, ‘On The Road’, recorded in Omaha in 1986, and a cover of ‘La Bamba’, while ‘Linoleum’ and ‘NOFX’ appear in live form.
Director James Buddy Day says the film screenings have taken on a life of their own.
“We made a documentary, but what’s happening in theatres feels bigger than that. Every city has turned into this celebration of NOFX, punk rock, and the people who grew up with the band.”
Fat Mike, predictably, has been less sentimental about what made it into the film.
“Most people wouldn’t be ok with releasing a film that shows footage of getting whipped in their dungeon, or their drug use for the past 20 years, or dressing up like a rubber cheap whore, or the ambulance ride when they were naked while puking and shitting blood… I’m not like most people”
That pretty much sums up the NOFX approach to retirement too, no sanitised legacy package or tasteful victory lap. Just four decades of bad decisions, great songs and enough incriminating footage to keep things appropriately uncomfortable.
