A Gallows reunion is seemingly on the cards – and it could be their biggest one yet, with original vocalist Frank Carter potentially set to return alongside them.
The UK hardcore band – who have not played a show in over seven years – reactivated their Instagram account last week (September 1st) and shared footage from Frank Carter’s final show fronting the band back in 2011. Carter himself narrates the footage, which is set to the band’s song ‘Orchestra of Wolves’ – the last song of that final show.
“In 2011, I quit the band,” Carter is heard saying.
“We couldn’t meet on what we were doing creatively. People still ask me when I’m gonna join them – all the fucking time. Like, once, a week some cunt will message me. If I did it again, it would be more.”
A second video followed a few days later, with archival footage from the band’s early shows in 2004. “We did whatever means necessary to make people pay attention,” Carter is heard saying. “We didn’t really care whether they liked us or not – in fact, that was the whole point.”
The third video cuts forward to 2006, covering the release of their debut album Orchestra of Wolves, while the fourth documents the shows around the release of 2009’s Grey Britain. A link to sign up to the band’s mailing list is listed in their Instagram bio.
Following Carter’s departure from Gallows in 2011, he formed the power-pop band Pure Love and released the album Anthems in 2013.
He then formed Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, releasing five studio albums with the band before announcing their hiatus in 2024. That same year, he assumed the unlikely position of the Sex Pistols‘ new frontman, touring with the band to this day.
Gallows themselves, meanwhile, enlisted Alexisonfire guitarist Wade MacNeil as their new frontman in 2012. He recorded a self-titled album with them in 2013 and their most recent album, Desolation Sounds, in 2015.
The band parted ways by the end of 2015, but announced a run of reunion shows in 2019 with MacNeil. Gallows has remained dormant since, with MacNeil having returned to Alexisonfire and also formed the hardcore band Pig Pen with celebrity chef Matty Matheson on vocals.
