New details have emerged surrounding the death of former Every Time I Die guitarist and professional wrestler Andy Williams, after Enjoy Wrestling co-owner Kurt Hackimer provided an account of the medical emergency that unfolded following Williams’ final match.
As sadly reported yesterday, Williams passed aged 48 after competing at an Enjoy Wrestling event at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale, Pennsylvania, on September 5th.
Hackimer has now told KDKA-TV that Williams collapsed at ringside after his match and struck his head on the floor, two doctors working at the event immediately attended to him (per Lamb Goat) .
“Andy collapsed at ringside after his match on Saturday and hit his head on the floor. We carried him to the side where he was attended to by the two doctors we have on staff.
“I called for an ambulance. At this time, he was conscious but unresponsive. His condition worsened quickly and his pulse faded.”
The event was subsequently stopped and the audience asked to leave while doctors performed CPR and used an AED supplied by police.

Williams was transported to Allegheny General Hospital at approximately 9:45pm. Hackimer said the promotion was informed of his death shortly after midnight by Williams’ tag team partner Jesse Guilmette.
Crucially, Hackimer also provided further context around the nature of the medical emergency.
“Medics on site indicated that the symptoms were consistent with a cardiac event, but we were told that the cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.”
That distinction is important, earlier reporting based on emergency dispatch audio focused on Williams suffering a head injury during the incident. Hackimer’s first hand account says Williams collapsed and then struck his head, while indicating that attending medics suspected a cardiac event.
No official cause of death has been established.
Williams was a founding guitarist of Every Time I Die, appearing on all nine of the Buffalo band’s studio albums before their split in 2022, he later continued making music with Atomic Rule while building a professional wrestling career as The Butcher.
Tributes have continued across both the heavy music and professional wrestling communities following his death.
