Organisers describe the Camperdown venue’s closure as indefinite following damage, while sale records leave its reopening plans unresolved.
Sydney’s Lady Hampshire is facing an uncertain future, with event organisers describing its closure as indefinite after damage disrupted gigs at the Camperdown pub. Separately, Colliers lists the property as sold. The available evidence does not establish that the sale caused the closure.
In a venue notice labelled “9th October Update”, The Lady Hampshire said it would be closed all weekend while damage was assessed and repairs attempted. The graphic also said gigs were being postponed or moved to other venues.
The disruption has since reached later bookings. NewsWire reported on 23 October that Sydney band Manhole had cancelled its planned 5 December appearance, citing an indefinite closure. DJ Meem also told followers that an upcoming event would no longer proceed at the venue, according to the report.
The property records add a separate question about what comes next. Colliers’ marketing offered the freehold and operating business at 89–91 Parramatta Road on behalf of FTI as receivers and managers, with expressions of interest closing on 3 September. Receivers were therefore identified in the sale materials before the October closure notice.
The listing advertises MU1 Mixed Use zoning and identifies residential, co-living or retail extensions as possibilities, subject to council approval. Those are sales claims about potential uses, not evidence of an approved redevelopment or a decision to end live music at the site. A buyer’s plans and a reopening timetable have not been independently confirmed by BLUNT.
The closure follows a relatively recent return to live music. As Concrete Playground reported in 2023, The Lady Hampshire reopened as a dedicated music venue after shutting during the pandemic. Its relaunch programme included Pacific Avenue, FANGZ, Bugs and These New South Wales.
The room’s role extended from local bills to overseas bookings. SydneyMusic’s archive lists free shows featuring local acts, recurring Back to Funk BBQ sessions and a September 2023 appearance advertised for New Zealand speed-metal band Stälker.
Anyone with an upcoming booking should check the relevant artist, organiser or ticket provider for cancellation or relocation details.
