Oathbreaker Announce First Australian Headline Shows With Portrayal of Guilt and Blind Girls

Share

Australia is finally getting Oathbreaker, and not just for their sold-out Melbourne festival appearance.

The Belgian post-black metal outfit have announced two headline shows for March 2027, bringing Portrayal of Guilt and Blind Girls along for dates in Brisbane and Sydney.

It’s the band’s first trip to the southern hemisphere, arriving nearly a decade after the release of Rheia, the album that pushed them well beyond their hardcore beginnings.

Released in 2016, Rheia saw Oathbreaker pull black metal, shoegaze, screamo and post-hardcore into something difficult to pin down. The record earned the band a devoted following, but after years of touring, they stepped away in 2018.

Their return in 2026 marked the album’s tenth anniversary, and Australian audiences are now getting their first chance to experience the band live.

The headline run begins Thursday, March 11th at Crowbar in Brisbane, followed by Crowbar in Sydney on Friday, March 12th.

Both shows feature Texas trio Portrayal of Guilt, who are making their own Australian debut. They’ve spent the past decade pushing hardcore and extreme metal in increasingly strange directions, incorporating everything from black metal and screamo to powerviolence.

They’ll arrive with their 2026 record …Beginning of The End.

Australian screamo heavyweights Blind Girls are also on both bills, making this a particularly stacked package for anyone drawn to the more abrasive corners of heavy music.

Brisbane outfit Slowcut will open their hometown show, while Melbourne experimental grindcore act Diploid will handle opening duties in Sydney.

Oathbreaker’s Australian visit wraps up at Melbourne’s inaugural Lucidity Festival on Saturday, March 13th. That event is already sold out and will feature a festival-exclusive performance of Rheia in full, alongside Converge performing Jane Doe in its entirety.

With Melbourne tickets gone, the newly announced headline dates give fans another shot at catching a band Australians have waited years to see.

Destroy All Lines presale begins Thursday, October 29th at 11am AEDT, before general tickets go on sale Friday, October 30th at 11am local time.
