‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’ Brings Hawkins Back To Life In Netflix’s First Animated Adventure

Netflix has unveiled Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, a new animated series arriving in 2026. Produced by Flying Bark Productions, it returns fans to Hawkins for a new paranormal mystery set in the winter of 1985.

Something survived in ’85, and it’s coming for Hawkins all over again. Netflix has officially dropped the first teaser and images for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, a brand new animated series expanding the world of Stranger Things in 2026.

The upcoming spin off takes fans back to the winter of 1985, where the familiar crew faces new monsters and another supernatural mystery that threatens to tear their town apart. While the Duffer brothers return as executive producers, the series is being steered by showrunner Eric Robles, best known for Fanboy & Chum Chum and Glitch Techs.

The animation is being handled by Flying Bark Productions, a studio with teams across Sydney, Los Angeles, and Madrid, making it another major project with deep Australian ties.

The cast

Casting includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, EJ Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper, with Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips joining in supporting roles.

Released as part of Stranger Things Day celebrations on November 6, the in universe date when Will Byers first disappeared, Tales From ’85 promises to mix the eerie nostalgia of the original series with the expressive style of high end animation.
