Make Them Suffer levelled the Coolangatta Hotel with support from DIESECT, The Gloom In The Corner and Justice For The Damned.
Coolangatta Hotel was anything but sleepy on Sunday night as Make Them Suffer tore through a punishing set on their regional tour in front of a crowd that showed up and showed out, even on a cold winter evening.
The night kicked off with DIESECT, who wasted no time whipping the room into gear with their heavy-as-hell assault. The Gloom In The Corner followed with a cinematic display of chaos and theatricality, pulling fans deep into their dark lore. Justice For The Damned rounded out the supports, bringing their signature blend of grit and groove that had the room fully locked in before the headliners even touched the stage.
Each act hit hard and held their own, serving as a stacked lead-in to Make Them Suffer as the main event. The energy in the room built with every set, fuelled by a crowd made up of metalheads of all stripes, who weren’t about to let a work night get in the way of going all in.
Make Them Suffer hit the stage like a freight train, launching into ‘Epitaph’ and never letting up. The set pulled from across their career, but leaned heavily into the brutal brilliance of their latest self-titled album. ‘Mana God’, ‘Weaponized’ and ‘Soul Decay’ landed like body blows, while ‘Ether’ and ‘Erase Me’ showed off the band’s melodic depth.
‘Ghost of Me’ and ‘Oscillator’ had the pit spinning, and by the time they closed out with encore track ‘Widower’, the Cooly crowd had nothing left to give – and loved every second of it.
This run marks one of Make Them Suffer’s biggest regional tours to date, and Sunday night proved just how deep the love runs in spots that don’t always get the spotlight.
