Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox is fronting a new single ‘Ties That Bind’ for Riot Games’ upcoming fighter game 2XKO.
Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante has lent her voice to a new track for Riot Games’ upcoming two-on-two fighting game 2XKO which features League of Legends champions. The song, called ‘Ties That Bind’, will serve as the game’s cinematic theme.
According to Riot, the track was designed as a “powerful and anthemic soundscape into an epic, soaring finale for players.” It will be released on October 6 at 8 pm PT (1pm AEST October 7 for Aussies) across all major streaming platforms, coinciding with the launch of the game’s official cinematic.
This collaboration arrives just one day before 2XKO enters early access on PC on October 7. While a console version is expected at some point, Riot has not yet confirmed a date for release outside of PC.
Courtney LaPlante’s involvement is the latest in a growing list of heavy musicians contributing to the 2XKO soundtrack. In September, instrumental progressive group Polyphia unveiled their own original track for the game, which serves as the official theme song.
The official announcement for LaPlante’s song came directly from the 2XKO social channels. “New single releasing w/ our official cinematic on Oct 6: ‘Ties That Bind’ ft. @courtneylaplante of @spiritboxmusic,” the post read, directing fans to pre-save the track via Riot’s link.
This isn’t LaPlante’s first foray into projects beyond Spiritbox’s main catalogue, with her recent feature in a track alongside Poppy and Amy Lee of Evanescence dropping last month.
The band has become known for their genre-blending approach to modern metal, balancing soaring clean vocals with harsh growls and heavy instrumentation. Her distinctive voice has made Spiritbox one of the most notable acts to break out of the heavy music scene in recent years, and now it will be tied to one of Riot’s most ambitious new projects in the form of 2XKO.
