The Dreggs braved the Northcote Theatre on Thursday night with a collection of new and old songs to share to an enthralled crowd.
The Dreggs took to the Northcote Theatre on Thursday night in celebration of their second full length studio album, ‘The Art of Uncommon Practice,’ supported by South Summit and Holly Hebe. The tour comes after breakout performances earlier this year at Yours & Owls Festival and Party in the Paddock, which saw the band draw massive crowds ready for a singalong. Their current headline tour leans much more intimate than standing in a far-off field, though – and it was well worth the wait between tours to see them live.
The Bribie Island boys kicked off the set by saying that “touring has reminded [them] why [they] make music”, while also adding a warning that “we may be a little rusty and stuff up.” This warning came just before restarting a song after a rusty beginning – but the patient fans didn’t mind letting the band re-find their footing for what was a deeply special night. This shared human connection and vulnerability is what makes The Dreggs a fan favourite.
Rusty starts aside, The Dreggs absolutely crushed their tour opener in Melbourne – and for those keen to see what all the hype is about, there’s more shows coming this weekend in Sydney and Brisbane. This isn’t one to miss.
