David Draiman has responded to Irish hip-hop group Kneecap after the trio called him a “straight up cunt” over his stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict.
The back-and-forth started after Tom Morello praised Kneecap, calling them “the Rage Against The Machine of now” and applauding their outspoken support for Palestine. Draiman, who has been vocal in his support for Israel, pushed back hard, accusing Morello of virtue signaling and writing off his family’s safety.
“Guess my family doesn’t count,” he posted. “Shameful.”
Kneecap didn’t hold back. They posted a photo of Draiman from 2024, smiling while signing Israeli artillery shells with messages like “Fuck Hamas.” Their caption condemned him directly.
“Smiling and signing bombs to murder kids and other people’s families just makes you a straight up cunt,” they wrote. “Simple as. Free Palestine.”
Draiman fired back on X, saying he’d “speak in small words” so they’d understand. He claimed the shells were meant for Hamas, not civilians, and blamed the group for all innocent lives lost, calling them “cannon fodder” used to manipulate global opinion.
“You shoot at Jews? Expect Jews to shoot back,” he wrote. “If the hostages were released and Hamas surrendered, the bloodshed would end. But neither you, nor Hamas, really want that. Because without dead martyred Palestinians to fuel your zeitgeist, both you and them lose power.”
He finished with a sign-off: “Enjoy your five minutes, gentlemen. It could have been done with your art, but instead you chose to do it with hatred. Bye now.”
Draiman was recently booed at the Black Sabbath farewell show in Birmingham, which was booked by Morello. He performed alongside members of Anthrax, Megadeth and Guns N’ Roses. After the show, he downplayed the crowd’s reaction.
“Yes, there were a few boos when I walked out,” he said. “But I came to pay homage to my teachers, my idols. I wasn’t about to let a few Jew-hating morons deter that.”
