Jim Root Appears to Push Back on Sid Wilson Report: ‘Don’t Believe Everything You Read’

Share

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root appears to have pushed back on a report claiming longtime turntablist Sid Wilson has been permanently removed from the band.

In a message shared to his verified Instagram Story shortly after the report began circulating, Root urged fans to slow down and wait for more information before accepting what they had read.

“Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”

The story was soundtracked by Slipknot’s ‘Til We Die’. Root did not mention Wilson, TMZ or the reported dismissal by name, meaning the post cannot be treated as a formal denial. Its timing and language, however, make it difficult not to read as a response to the claims surrounding the band’s lineup.

What was reported about Sid Wilson

As BLUNT reported earlier, TMZ reported on July 31 that Wilson had been informed late that afternoon that he was being permanently removed from Slipknot. The outlet cited a source described as close to the band and possessing direct knowledge of the situation.

No reason was given for the reported decision, and no replacement was named. Neither Slipknot nor Wilson had issued an official statement confirming the report at the time of writing.

Jim Root’s post stops short of a denial

Root’s message adds an important new layer to the story, but it does not definitively settle Wilson’s status. It warns fans against treating the first report as the complete picture while stopping short of saying directly that Wilson remains in the band.

For now, the most accurate position is that TMZ’s report remains unconfirmed by Slipknot or Wilson, while one of the band’s longest-serving members has publicly cautioned fans against believing everything they read before more information emerges.

BLUNT will update this story if Slipknot, Sid Wilson, Jim Root or an authorised representative provides further clarification.
