Liam Gallagher Gives Bring Me The Horizon’s Wonderwall Cover His Seal of Approval

Bring Me The Horizon just did something no one saw coming—they covered Wonderwall and actually got Liam Gallagher’s blessing.

Released on January 29 as part of Spotify Singles, BMTH’s version throws out Noel Gallagher’s acoustic strumming in favour of crunchy, distorted riffs and pounding drums. Oli Sykes delivers the lyrics with his signature raspy intensity, swapping nostalgia for something that sounds like it’s been dragged through a storm. It’s Wonderwall, but moodier, heavier, and unmistakably BMTH.

And Liam? He’s into it.

Jumping on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the release, he wasted no time sharing his thoughts:

For a man who’s never shied away from an opinion—especially when it comes to people touching Oasis’ legacy—that’s practically a knighthood.

It didn’t stop there. When a fan assumed Liam would be “so pissed off” about the cover, he shut it down fast:

Yes, you read that. Liam Gallagher was so hyped about Bring Me The Horizon covering Wonderwall that he (possibly) celebrated by going skateboarding.

BMTH’s cover is the latest addition to Spotify’s long-running cover series, with BMTH following in the footsteps of Idles, Wet Leg, and LCD Soundsystem.

In other news, both Oasis and BMTH have a huge year ahead. Potentially one of the biggest years of their careers.

BMTH are currently gearing up for their Reading & Leeds 2025 headline slot, joining Chappell Roan, Travis Scott, and Hozier. It’s their first proper headline spot at the festival, after technically being second to Arctic Monkeys in 2022. Meanwhile, Oasis’ long-rumoured reunion is actually happening, with huge UK and Ireland shows confirmed for this summer.

In the meantime, it might be a good idea to have a listen to BMTH’s cover of Wonderwall. Given Gallagher praise is a gift rarely bestowed on bands, it’s probably worth a listen.
