Liam Gallagher Is the Voice of Manchester Trams Ahead of Oasis’ Heaton Park Homecoming

Share

Manchester, your trams are due to sound a whole lot more Manc this week — and it’s not your imagination.

As Oasis roll into town for their five-night Heaton Park takeover, Liam Gallagher’s unmistakable snarl is now echoing through the Metrolink system. “The next stop is… Heaton Parrrk,” he growls over the tannoy. “Off you go.”

It’s the kind of regional detail only Oasis would bother with. A tongue-in-cheek flex that says we’re back without exactly saying it. After kicking off their Live ’25 reunion in Cardiff with back-to-back shows that felt like Britpop canon being rewritten in real time, the Gallaghers return to the city that made them legends. Five massive nights. 80,000 punters a night. Home turf.

The tram announcements are just a bonus. Part of Liam’s second round of Bee Network voiceovers after a 2023 cameo celebrating Manchester’s public transport revamp. It’s a little slice of hometown pride, broadcast from the speakers of a city still shaped by Oasis’ swagger.

Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham — always one to back the boys — said it best: “We’ve not got long to wait now until our city-region hosts the most eagerly awaited homecoming of all time… Listen out for Liam. It’s a trip.”

Support for the Heaton Park shows comes from Cast and Richard Ashcroft, with Oasis due onstage at 8:15pm each night. Expect wall-to-wall classics, possible bickering, and at least one line about the price of pints. Set your weather app too — it’s looking mostly sunny with a side of thunderstorms for Saturday. Very Manchester.

After Manchester, the reunion tour stomps through Wembley for seven sold-out nights, then off to Edinburgh, Dublin, and eventually across the globe — North America, South America, Australia, South Korea, Japan.

But for now, it’s Manchester’s moment. Liam’s voice is on the trams. Noel’s probably already side-eyeing the backstage rider. Oasis are home, and Heaton Park is about to become the centre of the universe — again.
