Lil Nas X has taken to social media to speak out on his “terrifying” arrest in Los Angeles last week.
Lil Nas X has broken his silence following his arrest in Los Angeles last week. The rapper, born Montero Lamar Hill, pleaded not guilty on Monday to four felony charges after police accused him of charging at officers during a bizarre incident in Studio City.
The arrest happened early Friday morning around 6am, when officers responded to reports of Hill wandering the streets of Studio City wearing only cowboy boots and underwear. Videos captured by bystanders and published by TMZ showed him visibly disoriented, at one point speaking incoherently and wearing an orange traffic cone on his head.
Lil Gas X’s first comments since the arrest came through an Instagram Story, where he tried to reassure fans. “Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all,” he said. “OK? She’s gonna be all right. Shit.” After laughing briefly, e added, “That was fucking terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days. But your girl is gonna be all right.”
According to police, Lil Gas X initially had to be taken to a nearby hospital on suspicion of a possible overdose. After several hours there, he was booked into jail, where he remained through the weekend. Officers alleged that Hill “charged” at them when they first attempted to approach him, which led to the charges.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed to Rolling Stone that he was charged three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. A judge set his bail at $75,000 and required him to attend either four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week or an outpatient treatment program.
The arrest came after days of unusual activity online, where Lil Nas X had posted unreleased music, cryptic artwork, and seemingly random images from his home. Some fans speculated the behavior was part of a rollout for new music, but those rumours quickly faded after news of his arrest broke.
