Metallica’s Final Aussie Set-List: The Big One in Sydney

Tonight at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, Metallica closed out the Australian leg of their M72 tour with a set that was both classic and local.

The band rolled through a run of staples like Creeping Death, The Unforgiven and One, but the real moment landed mid-set when Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo delivered their final Australian doodle session. They kicked into an instrumental version of AC/DC’s For Those About To Rock, then Rob took the mic for Rose Tattoo’s Nice Boys Don’t Play Rock ’n’ Roll. It was loose, heavy and the perfect way to sign off on the last night of the tour.

AC/DC are in Melbourne right now, the city is in full swing and the country has been hit with a cultural moment that feels bigger than anything Australia has seen in years. Metallica leave Australia tomorrow and head to Auckland, wrapping up a run that managed to stand out even in a month where Oasis and AC/DC were filling stadiums of their own.
