If you can’t make the trek over to When We Were Young in Vegas, Sydney’s emo and metal party Last Words has you covered with their new event, When We Weren’t There.
Emos across Australia have been experiencing fomo every time When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas gets announced for years (or whipping out their credit cards to make the journey over). However, thanks to emo, punk and metal party legends Last Words, this year you can beat the FOMO with a new event: When We Weren’t There.
Described as a “belter of a party night” and held the same weekend as the actual festival (October 18) at the Lansdowne in Chippendale, When We Weren’t There is an “all-stars” edition of Last Words’ usual parties.
Artists from the local scene will be laying down covers from bands on the WWWY lineup all night, with a special DJ set from Mikaila Delgado from Yours Truly too.
If you’re keen to get an idea of what Last Words is cooking up for When We Weren’t There, here’s the lineup of vocalists set to perform, with house band Elara also set to play. This will all go down in between DJs spinning alternative bangers throughout the evening.
Vocalists:
- Mikaila (Yours Truly)
- Tom (Sienna Skies),
- Noah (Days Like These)
- Rory (st.sinner)
- Nic (Live Like Animals)
- Lauren (Aurateque)
Last Words promises that When We Weren’t There will have “full-blown festival vibes” too, with all of the vocalists’ bands coming to sling band merch – no need to catch a flight to Vegas to shell out half your rent money on yet another black band tee for the collection.
This all goes down on October 18, with tickets available now from $18.
We’d wrap this story up ourselves, but Last Words summed it up pretty well on their own: “Why fly to Vegas when the real party’s at The Lansdowne?”
