Though Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn has been busy lately promoting his collaboration ‘love race’ with Machine Gun Kelly (see: their recent performance on The Ellen Show), that’s not all he’s been doing. Returning with fresh original material today, Sleeping With Sirens have offered up a brand new single, ‘Bloody Knuckles’, seeing them revisit their roots as we continue to navigate this uncertain time.
Speaking on the song earlier today, Quinn told Rock Sound that the band were intentionally harking back to their glory days, to create something that stands out from what they’re currently hearing out of the scene. He explains: “Me and Jack [Fowler, guitarist] really just wanted to create a song that feels a little bit different than kind of what’s been going on. I feel like a lot of bands are going more alternative and we wanted to just kind of bring it back to our golden days.” He references its heavy elements (“it’s really fast, it’s got a heavy breakdown in it, it’s everything that the kids are gonna want”) as a nod to “the Warped Tour sound” of days past.
While it doesn’t seem that a new album is locked and loaded yet, it does appear that the revered act will be heading back into the recording process soon, with Quinn promising that the single is intended to “tide everybody over until” they “go into the studio and start working on new music.” Aside from some recent contributions to the soundtrack for Paradise City on Amazon, it hasn’t actually been that long since Sleeping With Sirens’ last outing on 2019’s How It Feels To Be Lost. Representing their sixth studio album, it also got the deluxe edition treatment last year, featuring a bonus track and acoustic re-works.
