Suicidal Tendencies Announce Australian & NZ Headline Tour With Big Noter

Share

Suicidal Tendencies have announced a run of headline shows with Big Noter (Briggs’ new project) while touring Australia and NZ with Metallica later this year.

Suicidal Tendencies are heading back Down Under later this year, and they’re not just tagging along for the ride with Metallica. While they’re already locked in as special guests on Metallica’s M72 World Tour alongside Evanescence, the Californian punk-thrash icons have confirmed a string of headline dates during their downtime.

It’s the band’s first visit in two years and their first shows in Auckland and Perth since 2018. The upcoming run also marks the first-ever Suicidal shows in Australia and New Zealand to feature drummer Jay Weinberg, who joined the group following his high-profile departure from Slipknot in 2023.

The current Suicidal Tendencies lineup includes founding vocalist Mike Muir, guitarists Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan) and Dean Pleasants, bassist Tye Trujillo (son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo), and Weinberg behind the kit.

Joining Suicidal Tendencies on all headline dates is Big Noter, the new heavy project from Briggs. Known for his groundbreaking work in Australian hip-hop, Briggs is now channelling the hardcore, punk and metal that shaped his youth into something bold and loud.

Backed by a full live band and working with legendary producer Nick Didia (Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam), Big Noter’s debut album is due this year.

Born in the skate and surf culture of early 80s Venice, Suicidal Tendencies rose from local controversy – they were once banned from playing shows in LA – to global cult heroes, mixing punk, metal, and thrash into their own aggressive sound. The band’s influence is deeply rooted in skate culture, even earning them a place in the Skateboard Hall of Fame.

Five decades in, they’ve lost none of their energy. With a blistering lineup and the entire Trujillo family set to be in town (Robert with Metallica, Tye with Suicidal Tendencies, and Chloe Trujillo with her own band BLVD OF EYES), the band are ready to hit harder than ever when they come to Aussie shores later this year.

This won’t be one to miss.
