Corey Lewandowski says ICE will be at Bad Bunny’s 2026 Super Bowl Halftime show, calling the NFL’s choice “shameful.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will be on patrol at next year’s Super Bowl, according to Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who criticised the NFL for selecting Bad Bunny as its Halftime Show performer.
Lewandowski, speaking on right-wing host Benny Johnson’s podcast, claimed that the NFL’s decision was “so shameful” and argued that the Puerto Rican rapper “seems to hate America.” When asked if ICE would “have enforcement at the Super Bowl” where Bad Bunny will perform, he said: “There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you and apprehend you and put you in a detention facility and deport you. Know that is a very real situation under this administration, which is contrary to how it used to be.”
Lewandowski also suggested that other artists should have been chosen for the show, telling Johnson there are performers “who could be playing at that show that would be bringing people together and not separating them.”
Johnson amplified those comments in a recent post to X (formerly Twitter), calling Bad Bunny a “massive Trump hater” and “anti-ICE activist” who has “no songs in English.”
Bad Bunny has previously been vocal about ICE. Speaking to I-D last month, he explained that fears of immigration raids factored into his decision not to schedule US dates on his world tour. “F***ing ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” he said. He has also called ICE agents “motherf***ers” and “sons of b*tches” in social media posts.
The halftime show will be Bad Bunny’s only US. performance currently scheduled for 2026. Despite the controversy, his announcement as headliner caused a surge in streams, with Billboard reporting 18 million plays the day after, a 31 percent jump.
In a statement about the Super Bowl slot, Bad Bunny said: “This is for my people, my culture, and our history.”
