Watch Melbourne Pitbull Fans Storm The City To Celebrate Mr. Worldwide’s Aussie Shows

Share

Mr. Worldwide himself hit Australia last week, and fans in Melbourne were more than ready to take part in a massive ‘Running Of the Pitbulls’ in the CBD.

Pitbull has experienced something of a renaissance in the last few years (I mean, did he ever really leave the collective consciousness?), and with his recent Australian performances as part of Fridayz Live, fans were more than ready to don a bald cap and sunnies and get amongst it. While both the Sydney and Melbourne shows were a sea of shiny heads, drawn on moustaches and goatees, that enthusiasm for Mr. Worldwide spilled out into the streets over the weekend in Melbourne.

Dubbed ‘The Running of the Pitbulls,’ fans took over the Royal Melbourne Hotel – which some of you may recognise as the home of BANG! (rip) – for a massive pre-party on Saturday ahead of the show. While a pre-show party might not be anything to call home about usually, this one was a particular doozy, given the metric tonne of fans who decided to dress up as Pitbull himself to celebrate.

This isn’t a lone phenomenon – fans across the globe have been cosplaying Pitbull, sort of, at plenty of shows to the point it’s become a near rite of passage. However, there’s something so entertaining about seeing what looks like hundreds of folks in bald caps hitting the streets to head to a show after a few (million) beers.

Check out some of the footage of the Running of The Pitbulls posted to social media over the weekend to get a glimpse into the chaos.
