A Post Malone Fan Has Died After Being Struck by Debris While Evacuating REDWEST Festival

A Post Malone fan has passed away after being struck by debris while evacuating the REDWEST Festival in Utah last weekend. The festival would be evacuated due to severe weather.

A festivalgoer attending REDWEST Festival in Utah died over the weekend while evacuating the country music festival headlined by Post Malone.

FOX 13 identified the fan as 23-year-old Ava Ahlander, who had fled to her car while evacuating the festival with tens of thousands of other concertgoers. Ahlander would be struck by a 2×12-inch scaffolding board from a nearby construction site after stepping out of the vehicle.

Paramedics transported Ahlander to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her family confirmed on Monday that she had passed away.

“It just hit her in the head… in the neck. It was hard. It was fast,” her uncle Bobby Ahlander told KUTV. “The doctors said after they were able to get her stable and do a CT scan that it basically crushed her brain stem.”

The family would share a statement with FOX 13 eulogising the 23-year-old. “Ava was an absolute delight of a human being. Everyone loved her,” the family wrote. “She was an avid concert goer and had flown in from Seattle to go see Post Malone with her friends.”

Ahlander’s family has since launched a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of her memorial, burial, and medical expenses, as well as counselling for those affected by her loss. The page would quickly surpass its initial $15,000 USD goal. Ahlander’s family have announced that any remaining funds will be donated to a charity in her name.

“Ava was a beautiful soul whose kindness, warmth, and adventurous spirit touched everyone around her,” they added in the description. “Even in her passing, Ava continues to give the gift of life to others as an organ donor – a final act of generosity that truly reflects her caring nature and desire to help those in need.”

As of writing, Redwest Festival has yet to issue a statement acknowledging Ahlander’s passing. Post Malone also has yet to comment on cancelling his appearance at the Utah country music festival.
