Bob Vylan Shut Down “Death to IDF” Chant at First Show Post-Glasto: “Just Putting Out Fires”

Bob Vylan returned to the stage last night (July 9) at The 100 Club in London. And as was expected, things got political, pretty fast.

It was the duo’s first live appearance since their explosive Glastonbury set, where frontman Bobby Vylan led a now-infamous chant against the Israel Defence Forces. That moment has since spiraled into a full-blown industry backlash—cancelled Euro dates, a criminal investigation, revoked US visas, and agents bailing. But none of it stopped them from showing up and speaking out.

Midway through last night’s set, a small pocket of fans attempted to reignite the “Death to the IDF” chant. Vylan immediately shut it down.

“No, no, no, no, no,” he said, pointing into the crowd. “You’re gonna get me in trouble. Apparently every other chant is fine, but you lot will get me in trouble.” Instead, he pivoted the room into a powerful chorus of “Free, free Palestine.”

There’s no sugar-coating it: Bob Vylan are under fire. But if anything, they seem more defiant than ever.

“I’m gonna try and keep my talking to a minimum today, because that’s what got us in trouble in the first place,” Bobby said with a half-smirk. Later, he admitted the past week had been chaotic: “Just putting out fires, you know? We never imagined we’d spark a conversation that needed to be had.”

He didn’t hold back from addressing the core issue: “It is fucking criminal what is happening to these people. They are now being concentrated into camps. They thought this would shut us up… but the album is back in the charts.”

And his message was pretty crystal clear: “We just want to see the liberation of the Palestinian people. That’s it. That’s all we want. It’s not a violent thing to ask.”

Say what you want about Bob Vylan—but silencing them clearly isn’t going to work. Not now, or ever.
