Brann Dailor Responds After Brent Hinds Slams Mastodon’s Live Vocals: “Sounds In Key To Me”

Drummer and vocalist Brann Dailor has responded after Brent Hinds said Mastodon’s singers can’t perform in key without autotune.

The rift between Mastodon and former guitarist Brent Hinds isn’t cooling off. Months after his departure from the band, Hinds has again taken shots at his old bandmates, this time questioning their ability to sing live without studio help. Now, Brann Dailor has responded with a subtle jab back at the former member.

In a comment on an Instagram clip of Mastodon performing in 2012, Hinds wrote:

“My Guitar sounds great, but Troy and prawn sound absolutely horrible ..they are way out of key ..embarrassing and they kicked me out of the band for embarrassing them for being who I am ..but what about who they are?”

“They are two people that can’t sing..together live or anywhere else in the world ..everything they try to sing in the studio is manipulated by autotune because they’re incapable of singing in key..fuck these guys ..only I know who they really are ..they are the biggest fans of them self’s .. I’ve never seen anyone in my life look in the mirror more than Troy Sanders. He thinks he’s God’s gift to anything. I’ve never met three people that were so full of themselves. It’s disgusting.”

He added in a follow-up, “Not saying I can sing tho.”

Now, Drailor has hit back with a cheeky Instagram story reshare of Mastodon’s performance from a fan, saying “sounds in key to me.” Check out the screenshot below, originally captured by Metal Injection.

Hinds’ comments follow earlier remarks calling Mastodon “a sh*t band with horrible humans.” While the group has mostly avoided engaging, drummer and vocalist Brann Dailor has finally broken the silence (sort of).

So much for that amicable split with Hinds that Mastodon’s statement described in March.
