A Perfect Circle’s already massive return to Australia and New Zealand has just picked up another unexpected addition, with comedian, musician and writer Dave Hill joining the band and Puscifer across all December dates.
Announced by Live Nation today, August 12th, Dave Hill will open each show as a special guest, bringing his unique combination of stand-up comedy, storytelling and live music to the tour.
The addition follows Hill’s recent 32 date North American run supporting Puscifer on their Normal Isn’t tour earlier this year, making the pairing a particularly fitting one as he now joins Puscifer for their Australian and New Zealand dates with A Perfect Circle.

Comedy, rock and absurdist storytelling
Originally from Cleveland and now based in New York City, Hill has developed a reputation as one of alternative comedy’s most unconventional performers. The Atlantic has described him as “one of the funniest people alive”, while his live shows blur the lines between comedy, rock and absurdist storytelling.
For anyone heading along purely for the music, Hill is also far from a traditional comedian, a lifelong musician, Hill fronts rock band Valley Lodge, whose song “Go” serves as the long running theme for HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Over the years, he’s also shared stages with artists including Tenacious D, Bill Murray and His Blood Brothers, Broken Social Scene, Snoop Dogg and Quicksand.
His television credits include Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Girls5eva, Inside Amy Schumer, Joe Pera Talks With You, After Midnight and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, while his work extends into radio, podcasting, books and music.
The addition gives an already stacked tour another layer ahead of A Perfect Circle’s long awaited return Down Under. Formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan, A Perfect Circle haven’t toured Australia since 2013, while their upcoming New Zealand appearance will mark the band’s first visit there in 22 years.
New music incoming
The tour also arrives at an interesting point creatively for A Perfect Circle, Howerdel recently confirmed that the band are working on more new music following the release of their latest single, “Starless”, although a new album has yet to receive an official release date.
“We’re on tour. It’s hard to get solid things done when you’re out here… So to get real cracking on to the new album, it’s gonna be… I need a couple more of these days to line up over the next tour.”
For now, we have a very substantial live experience to look forward to.
A Perfect Circle will be joined by Puscifer and Dave Hill across six shows spanning Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland, with the December 11th Sydney date already sold out and limited tickets remaining for several other shows.
