Dropkick Murphys To Play Free Minneapolis Memorial Show For Alex Pretti & Renée Good

Share

Before they hit the sold out Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Dropkick Murphys will strip things back for something far more personal.

Next Friday, March 6th Dropkick Murphys are set to perform a free acoustic memorial concert in Minneapolis, honouring Alex Pretti and Renée Good and standing in solidarity with the wider Twin Cities community.

The show is near Eat Street, close to the site where Pretti was killed, that space has since become a point of remembrance for locals, and this afternoon gathering aims to centre healing, not headlines (per press release).

Pretti, 37, was a VA ICU nurse and Minneapolis resident, Good was also 37 and deeply rooted in the community, organisers say the event is about unity and support for families and neighbourhoods still carrying the weight of recent months.

Ken Casey shared ahead of the performance:

“We are so proud of how Minnesota stood up and met this moment and we are so sad for the community and for the Pretti and Good families for what they’ve gone through, so it is an honor to come down and be able to play some music for the people and let them know we stand in solidarity with them.”

Community Voices Take The Stage

Aswell as Dropkick Murphys, the afternoon will feature Wild Colonial Bhoys, DJ Jacques, Kiss the Tiger, Sophie Hiroko, Chutes, Laamar, Obi Original and The Shackletons. Local organisations involved include Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Show Up for Eat Street, Immigrant Law Center and South Minneapolis Families Fund.

Anna Schmitz, Executive Director of Whittier Alliance, said:

“We’re looking forward to having a time for the community to come together to honor Alex’s life and show the strength, resilience, and beauty of this neighborhood.”

Streaming Live

The event will stream globally via AbolishICE.live, produced by Valor Media and the Save America Movement, with Meidas Touch also broadcasting.

While entry is free, fundraising links tied to the concert will support rent relief, small businesses on Eat Street, immigrant legal services and families across South Minneapolis.

This one isn’t about stage lights or setlists, it’s about showing up.
