Fallout: The Ghoul Log lets you get cozy with Walton Goggins’ ghoul gunslinger for about 90 minutes or so.
The silly season is upon us, and with it comes the second season of Fallout, Prime Video‘s acclaimed series adaptation of the beloved, post-apocalyptic video game franchise. That’s due on December 17 but Amazon (they like to be called Prime Video, and make a point of it in every press release, but they’re still bloody Amazon) are no slouches in the promo department. To that end: Fallout: The Ghoul Log, an enjoyable 90 minutes or thereabouts spent in the relaxing company of Walton Goggins‘ The Ghoul in front of a roaring fire, faithful hound by your side.
“This ain’t no Whoville, but it’ll do,” he drawls, before going to point out that fuel for the fire is in short supply in the Wasteland, necessitating a substitution.
“See this? It ain’t no log. This is a human arm. Specifically, a fat man’s. It burns nice, doesn’t it?” It turns out he keeps a supply… uh… handy for such occasions. “I keep a few of these arms dry-aging throughout the year just because it’s so nice in the winter. Stay armed, stay warm – that’s what I always say.”
A few seasonal songs play on the radio in the background, interspersed with stories from DJ Mr. New Vegas (voiced by real life Las Vegas legend Wayne Newton). Goggins doesn’t stick around for long, advising us to tilt his head away from the fire should he fall asleep -which he apparently does. And that’s more or less your lot.
But it’s an enjoyable, relaxing lot, you have to admit.
Fallout season 2 premieres on December 17 on Prime Video, and we’ll have a review up about the same time.
