Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre was glowing on Saturday night as The Preatures took the stage to celebrate 10 years of Blue Planet Eyes and reminded everyone exactly why the album became an instant Australian classic.
From the first chords on Saturday night, Sydney five-piece The Preatures had the room moving at Northcote Theatre. It was an easy, joyful kind of energy: swaying hips, wide smiles, and choruses sung loud enough to challenge the PA.
This was nostalgia with a pulse as the band worked through Blue Planet Eyes in full, from the sparkling groove of ‘Somebody’s Talking’ to the irresistible pull of ‘Is This How You Feel?’.
The crowd’s enthusiasm didn’t dip for a second, each track landing like a reunion with an old friend. The band’s signature mix of 60s R&B warmth and sharp-edged rock filled the venue, the sound bouncing off the ornate theatre walls and pulling everyone into the moment – both fans old and new.
Of course, it wasn’t all about the album – favourites from across their back catalogue were sprinkled in, keeping the night fresh while still anchored in the celebration of a record that shaped their career.
By the time the final notes rang out, it was clear this was a love letter, both to Blue Planet Eyes and to the fans who’ve kept it spinning for a decade.
