(Hed)p.e. are gearing up for their next release, with frontman Jared Gomes confirming the band has completed work on a brand new album titled Relapse.
The (Hed) p.e. record will follow 2023’s Detox and appears set to continue a thematic connection between the two releases, while pushing into more personal and emotionally charged territory.
Announcing the project via social media, Gomes shared a candid reflection on the process behind making the album, describing it as both exhausting and cathartic:
“Relapse is done
The new record is titled Relapse.
So much time invested.
There were tears of pain and tears of joy.
We smashed and destroyed shit on this one.
It was like going to therapy. But it was also like escaping rehab and road tripping on a bender.
Life is a beautiful struggle.
Relationships with chemicals.
Relationships with the ones we love.
It’s all on this record.
I just can’t wait for y’all to hear it.
i’m so freaking excited for yall to hear this one i swear.”
AI artwork?
From the sound of it, Relapse won’t be a straightforward continuation of Detox but something more reflective and chaotic in equal measure, a record shaped by conflict, emotion and personal experience.
At the same time, the album announcement sparked conversation online after fans questioned an image used alongside the reveal, with some suggesting it had been generated using artificial intelligence (per The PRP).
One comment asked:
“i doubt making a cover is that expensive man, why the ai?”
The official band account responded directly:
“it’s a picture no one said cover cry somewhere else.”
At this stage, no official album artwork or release date has been confirmed, and the band’s response suggested the image used in the announcement should not necessarily be viewed as final cover art.
With Relapse now reportedly complete, attention turns to when fans will get their first full listen, for now, (Hed) p.e. seem more focused on the music than the noise around the rollout.
