Saosin Launch ‘New Era’ With Latest Single ‘Just Be Honest’

Saosin have continued their revived run with Cove Reber, releasing new single Just Be Honest only months after bringing the reunited line-up to Australia.

The track is the band’s second release through Sumerian Records, following Starting Over Again in April, which marked Saosin’s first new music in more than a decade and their first with Reber in 14 years.

Just Be Honest pushes that comeback further, with guitarist Beau Burchell describing the track as an early indication of a considerably larger project taking shape behind the scenes.

“We knew there was something special about ‘Just Be Honest’ from the moment of its inception. It had that rare feeling early on where you just know a song is going to matter on an album.

“Hearing Cove’s vocals on it for the first time confirmed it, and then Phil’s leads gave it that extra push. The whole thing blossomed into something bigger than we imagined.This is really just the beginning of a much bigger body of work for us, a whole new era. We weren’t planning to share anything this soon, but we got so excited about where the music was heading that we couldn’t sit on it any longer.”

That reference to an album is particularly notable. Saosin have yet to announce a new full-length, but Burchell’s comments make clear that Starting Over Again and Just Be Honest are part of something larger rather than isolated comeback singles.

A big year for Saosin

The new song was produced and mixed by guitarists Burchell and Phil Sgrosso, while bassist Chris Sorenson directed its accompanying music video (above).

For Australian fans, the release follows Saosin’s return earlier this year, the band toured Australia in April alongside Senses Fail and Fallweather, playing Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth as part of a wider international run.

Those shows gave local audiences an early look at the latest incarnation of Saosin, with Reber back on vocals alongside Burchell, Sgrosso, Sorenson and drummer Alex Rodriguez.

After more than a decade without new Saosin material, the pace has now changed considerably.

Two singles, a new deal with Sumerian Records, an international touring run and confirmation that a larger body of work is being assembled all point towards a far more active chapter for the post-hardcore veterans.
