Jeff Tweedy is fighting back against the darkness, releasing a massive triple-album dropping this year.
Move aside, Morgan Wallen, because Jeff Tweedy is gearing up for a massive triple-album release later this year.
It’s no secret the Wilco frontman likes to write a lot of music. Now, with this upcoming release, Tweedy is gearing up to release his largest most conceptual project yet.
Tweedy’s new three-album project is called Twilight Override, which follows his previous 2020 solo album Love Is King. The new album is out September 26 via WIlcon’s own dBpm records, and the folk rock legend has already released four songs to tide us over until it drops. These include ‘Out In The Dark’, ‘One Tiny Flower’, ‘Stray Cats in Spain’, and ‘Enough’.
Thankfully, Tweedy hasn’t been shy about sharing the motivation behind the new album and its extensive tracklist. The frontman shared in a press statement that he sees creativity as a way of standing against all the darkness in the world today. “Sort of an endless buffet these days – a bottomless basket of rock bottom,” he writes. “Which is, I guess, why I’ve been making so much stuff lately.”
Tweedy further explains: “Whatever it is out there (or in there) squeezing this ennui into my day, it’s fucking overwhelming. It’s difficult to ignore. Twilight Override is my effort to overwhelm it right back.”
The record is self-produced and features James Elkington, Sima Cunningham, Macie Stewart, Liam Kazar, and Tweedy’s children Spencer and Sammy.
