Korn Hook Up MLB Pitcher Mason Miller After ‘Blind’ Walkout Moment

Share

Korn have shown some love to MLB pitcher Mason Miller, sending a stacked merch package after the San Diego Padres player walked onto the field to their classic track ‘Blind’.

Miller made noise back in March when he chose ‘Blind’, the opening punch from Korn’s 1994 self titled debut, as his walkout song, the track still hits like a blunt force intro, and it translated cleanly from mosh pit to baseball field, Korn clearly clocked it (per Metal Injection).

Korn respond

Alongside the merch drop was a note from the band’s manager, Mark Wakefield, making it clear the gesture wasn’t just PR filler:

“Mark Wakefield here, Korn’s manager. I can’t tell you how excited we are to see you using “Blind” as your walk-out music. The band is so honored and appreciative, and if there’s anything we can do for you, please reach out any time. We’d love to have you out to a show when your schedule permits. [illegible]

“In the meantime, here’s some merch. If any of it is too small, or you’d like something else, please don’t hesitate to holler.

“Wishing you a successful season, and hopefully we’ll see you soon!

“Best, Mark”

Soon after, Miller was surprised in the Padres locker room with a full spread of gear, we’re talking t-shirts, hoodies, shoes, socks, bags, the lot, enough to take over a corner of the room.

Miller’s reaction

Miller didn’t overthink it, going through the gear, he kept it simple.

“Appreciate these guys. Kicks for the road trip. Ready to roll. Thank y’all. Appreciate it. And excited to keep running out to the music, man. Thank you.”

There’s something about ‘Blind’ that still cuts through, it’s aggressive without being dated, and it carries enough weight to make an entrance feel like an event.

For Miller, it’s clearly more than a gimmick, Korn didn’t need to do this, but moments like this keep the band tied into new audiences without forcing it.
