Lamb of God have shared their latest single, ‘Blunt Force Blues’, taken from their upcoming record Into Oblivion, releasing March 13 via Epic.

Virginia heavy metal heroes Lamb of God have shared a final preview of their upcoming album, Into Oblivion, with their new track ‘Blunt Force Blues, ‘ releasing March 13 via Epic.

Where their previous single, ‘Into Oblivion’, would lament our current world state, ‘Blunt Force Blues’ returns to the band’s formative years in Richmond, Virginia.

In a statement, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe would reflect on the heavy metal titans formative years: “We learned how to play by watching and hanging out with other local dudes. That’s what we aspired to do – keep up with good local bands. They were just as much of an influence on us as any of the bigger bands from different cities.”

Guitarist Mark Morton would also echo Blythe’s statement, speaking to how their perspective’s have changed over their extensive 25-year-long career.

“For me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation,” he says. “It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, ‘Let’s just make music that we think is cool,’ which is really where it all started.”

Looking back on their career seems to be a major theme for the upcoming LP, as their first single, ‘Sepsis‘, had a similar inspiration.

In a statement shared with the single, Morton would dedicate the track to several local underground metal acts in Virginia that they had admired.

”Bands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger – though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time.”

“The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.”

Into Oblivion marks the band’s 12th studio album and first release since 2022’s Omens. Judging by the singles so far, we’re in for some absolute peak material from the boys, who are far from slowing down any time soon.
