Bullet for My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck has reflected on the passing of longtime Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers, calling him “the backbone of the foundation of that band” during a new interview with Argentina’s Rock & Pop.
Tuck and his band are currently supporting Limp Bizkit across Latin America on the Loserville Gringo Papi Tour 2025, which took on new emotional weight following Rivers’ death in October.
Tuck said the news first reached the band through social media:
“[We were] just shocked,” he explained. A lifelong fan, he recalled seeing Limp Bizkit in the late nineties before ‘Three Dollar Bill, Y’all’ even dropped.
“That moment for me was huge as a teenager… Sam was a huge part of that for LIMP BIZKIT. He was the backbone of the foundation of that band.”
Bullet for My Valentine joined the tour at short notice after Yungblud withdrew, something Tuck described as meaningful under the circumstances.
“It feels like it’s a real moment that means a lot to LIMP BIZKIT… And it’s just sad — it’s just a really sad moment. But they are here, and they’re doing it for Sam.”
The Welsh band met Limp Bizkit in Mexico City for the first time only days ago, Tuck said the experience contradicted the old warning about meeting your heroes.
“On this occasion that’s incorrect… they’ve been nothing but kind and welcoming and accommodating to us.”
Limp Bizkit returned to the stage for the first time since Rivers’ passing on November 29th in Mexico City, with Kid Not (Richie Buxton) stepping in on bass, the show opened with a tribute video honouring Rivers’ history with the band, ending with the message: “Sam Rivers, we love you forever.”
Drummer John Otto also shared a personal statement before the show:
“We’re going to honor the life you lived and the love you spread with every show we play… This one’s for you Sammy.”
Rivers died on October 18 at age forty eight, Limp Bizkit will continue the tour through Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil this month.
