Nikki Sixx Defends Vince Neil After Fan Criticism: ‘He’s My Brother’

Share

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has fired back at a fan who criticised Vince Neil’s weight and vocal ability, making it clear he’s not interested in hearing strangers take shots at his bandmate of more than four decades.

The exchange played out on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend after a user directed an insult at Sixx regarding the Crüe frontman, the post read: ‘You should get Vince jogging or some Ozempic. Fat sh*t can’t sing’ [sic]. (per Metal Injection)

Sixx didn’t let it slide:

Responding the following day, the bassist defended Neil while reminding the commenter just how long the two musicians have been side by side.

‘What an embarrassing thing to post to me about my singer who’s been with me for 45 years. No matter what you think he’s my brother and you can go suck a d*ck.’

A long and complicated bond

The blunt reply reflects the long and complicated bond between the members of Mötley Crüe, a band that has weathered decades of chaos, breakups and reunions since forming in Los Angeles in 1981. Despite the occasional criticism aimed at Neil’s live performances in recent years, Sixx made it clear that loyalty still runs deep within the Crüe camp.

Health concerns around the singer have also been part of the conversation recently, in 2025 the band postponed their planned Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM after Neil revealed he had suffered a stroke on Christmas Day 2024.

Speaking in an interview later that year, Neil said the incident came after several previous strokes and left him unable to get out of bed that morning. Since then, he has undergone extensive physical therapy and training in order to return to the stage.

Looking ahead, Mötley Crüe are preparing for a major anniversary run, the band will launch ‘The Return Of Carnival Of Sins’ tour in July, celebrating both the 20th anniversary of their original 2005–2006 Carnival Of Sins tour and 45 years of Mötley Crüe.
