Nine Inch Nails put on a mini-concert at the Los Angeles premiere for TRON: Ares on Monday, performing four songs from the soundtrack of the film.
Nine Inch Nails performed a surprise mini-concert with Boys Noize at the Los Angeles premiere of TRON: Ares earlier this week.
The show featured a scaled-back lineup, including frontman Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Boys Noize, along with longtime member Robin Finck on guitar. The concert would also reprise their Nine Inch Noize-style show, which would take place in the middle of the band’s setlist for their recent Peel It Back Tour.
Kicking things off with the lead single ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be,’ Nine Inch Nails would also give a live debut to the tracks ‘Forked Reality,’ ‘The Warning’, and conclude with the song ‘Shadow Over Me’.
Lucky for us, fans over on the r/nin sub-reddit captured footage from the event and have been sharing clips, and the band sounds incredible. While it should come as no surprise, (I mean, they’re freaking Nine Inch Nails), it’s still mighty impressive Reznor and co have been able to translate the soundtrack here into a new, live setting.
Reviews for TRON: Ares have been pouring out, and while critics have had some complaints with the overall structure of the movie, nearly every review has praised Nine Inch Nails’ soundtrack. In fact, IGN bumped their score for the movie from a four to a five due to how much they enjoyed the music.
Nine Inch Nails have also just wrapped their North American tour for the year and are taking an extended break until February 2026. The tour will end with a special Nine Inch Noize performance at Coachella 2026.
Earlier this year, the band also reunited with their long-term drummer, Josh Freese, after the revered session musician was fired from the Foo Fighters. Freese would trade places with former Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin.
